Simsbury Murder Investigation Now Aided By Cold Case Unit
The 2014 slaying of insurance executive Melissa Millan remains one of the most baffling unsolved murder cases in recent history.

SIMSBURY, CT — Nearly three years to the day that Melissa Millan was found murdered in Simsbury, investigators are still attempting to solve one of the most baffling homicide cases in town history.
In an update issued to the media by the Simsbury Police Department Thursday, the Office of the Chief State’s Attorney Cold Case Unit and local police are partnering to continue the investigation into Millan's death, which took place Nov. 20, 2014.
Millan, 54, an executive with MassMutual, was found dead with stab wounds to the chest along a jogging and biking trail on Iron Horse Boulevard. A passing driver saw her body and called police.

“This investigation remains the top priority of the Simsbury Police Department,” said Simsbury Police
Chief Peter Ingvertsen. “This partnership with the State’s Cold Case Unit has brought additional
specialized resources to the investigation, and we look forward to continuing our work with them as we
move forward.”
The Cold Case Unit is comprised of officers and prosecutors experienced with cold case investigations.

Millan’s murder shook the town of Simsbury, which remains one of Connecticut’s safest places to live.
“We continue to grieve the loss of Melissa with her family and friends,” said First Selectwoman
Lisa Heavner. “Our Police Department remains committed to solving this case and to finding some
closure for the family.”
Millan's family has been kept abreast of the progress of the investigation since its inception.
There is a $40,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction of the person or persons
responsible for her death.
