Simsbury Murder Investigation Prompts Temporary Roadway, Greenway and Park Closures
A continued murder investigation has necessitated some road and park closures on Iron Horse Boulevard.

Police investigative activity on Iron Horse Boulevard and Rotary Park will cause some temporary closures over the course of the week, Simsbury police posted on its Facebook page.
Iron Horse Boulevard, between Jim Gallagher Way and Pent Road (behind the U.S. Post Office), will be closed to motor vehicle, bicycle and pedestrian traffic during the daytime Monday and Tuesday. The closures may be required through Thursday of this week (November 16-19, 2015).
Rotary Park will be closed until further notice. This includes the playground and the dog park.

These closures are due to the continued investigation of the Melissa Millan homicide in November 2014.
Police Chief Peter Ingvertsen issued the following statement:

“It has been almost one year since the death of Melissa Millan on Iron Horse Boulevard. The Simsbury Police Department has worked very closely with Federal, State and municipal law enforcement agencies, Melissa’s family, friends and acquaintances, community members, organizations and private companies to find the person or persons responsible for this crime.
In June 2015, a $40,000 reward was offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction, but we did not receive any calls that led to additional information. This reward is still active.
The investigation, as well as the support and assistance from other law enforcement agencies, has been continuous. The investigation has led us back to Iron Horse Boulevard. Today and through the upcoming days, we have the assistance of the FBI Evidence Response Team for an extended search of the area.
Simsbury is a very safe community. The police activities on Iron Horse Boulevard today and potentially over the course of the next few days are a part of the normal progression of the investigation.
We want to encourage anyone who may have any information to call the detectives at 860-658-3145.”
In another statement, First Selectman Lisa Heavner said:
“The loss of Melissa Millan was a shock to this entire community. Not a single day passes without family, friends and neighbors remembering her life and not a single day passes without the Simsbury Police Department searching for the truth. This remains an active and ongoing investigation and a top priority for the Town of Simsbury.
We realize that people have questions about the investigation. I assure you that the Simsbury Police Department is thoroughly investigating and I have full confidence in them. They have skilled and talented investigators and they are receiving specialized support from Federal and State law enforcement agencies. The Police Department is using all resources available to determine who is responsible for this terrible crime.
I assure you that Simsbury is a safe community. Simsbury police are active and present in our daily lives. Town employees, business owners, residents and the Police Department care deeply about each other and this Town. The Police Department will continue to seek who is responsible and provide you with information when it becomes available.”
