Two Simsbury Boards Set To Talk Legal Marijuana

Both the Simsbury Zoning Commission and the Simsbury Board of Selectmen are planning key meetings in November on the marijuana issue.

SIMSBURY, CT — November is a key month in Simsbury when it comes to figuring out how the town will welcome or prohibit establishments specializing in selling recreational marijuana.

Following a vote in the state legislature, the cultivation, sale, transport and distribution of adult use cannabis was permitted in Connecticut as of July, 1, 2021.

According to the town, the Simsbury Zoning Commission adopted a year-long moratorium on this matter effective Nov. 8, 2021 in order to establish a regulatory land use approach.

The zoning commission has planned two upcoming meetings on this topic, which will include the opportunity for public comment.
