Simsbury Proud of Good Samaritans

A couple stopped on their own and assisted at the scene of a medical emergency during Thursday's snowstorm.

SIMSBURY, CT — The town of Simsbury is extremely thankful for a local couple who provided valuable unsolicited assistance during a medical emergency Thursday.

Around 3:30 p.m., the Simsbury Police Department and the Simsbury Volunteer Ambulance Association responded to 419 Bushy Hill Road for a medical emergency. Due to the severity of the emergency, it was imperative that the patient be provided advanced life care and immediate services at a hospital as soon as possible, police said.

The ambulance was unable to get into the unplowed driveway because of the abundance of snow. A pickup truck traveling south on Bushy Hill Road stopped because the ambulance was parked on the street, and a man and woman got out of the truck and plowed the driveway, then helped a police officer shovel a clear pathway from the driveway to the house for a stretcher, police said.

On Facebook, police wrote, "We were not able to identify the two who played an intricate role in the speedy delivery of emergency medical services. The truck was a newer model white Ford F-150 Platinum with a large snowplow and a yellow sander in the bed. Please call Officer Gary Gray at (860) 658-3100, so we can properly thank you. If you know who these good samaritans are, please encourage them to call."

Shortly after that post, via the Facebook page Simsbury Moms Unite!, the couple was identified as Jenna and Terry Ryan.
