Simsbury Porch Pirate Was Dressed As FedEx Worker: Police

The Simsbury PD has released surveillance images of a man dressed as a Federal Express worker believed to have stolen a package at a home.

SIMSBURY, CT — Local police have released surveillance images of a porch pirate who appears to have been dressed up like a Federal Express employee last week.

According to the Simsbury Police Department, the theft of a package occurred on Fernwood Drive on Wednesday, May 29, at about 11:33 a.m.

"The package was an Apple iPhone delivered by FedEx. Shortly after the package was delivered, a male suspect arrived in what is believed to be a gray Kia Sorento," wrote Simsbury police in a statement.

Police said the suspect was dressed as a FedEx employee and took the package from the porch.

FedEx confirmed similar incidents had been reported in the region and these thefts are likely part of an organized criminal ring, police said.

The Simsbury Police Department is urging residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the police immediately.
