Simsbury Restaurant Damaged After Vehicle Crashes Into It

The owners of the restaurant said the building was damaged, but it has reopened to the public and limited seating is available.

SIMSBURY, CT — A popular restaurant in Simsbury was open for business Friday afternoon, despite having a vehicle drive into the building and damage the exterior.

The owners of Antonio's Restaurant, which is located at 1185 Hopmeadow St., Simsbury, said a vehicle plowed into the building there, temporarily forcing the eatery's closure Friday.

Later in the afternoon, the restaurant's owners posted on Facebook that it had reopened to the public, despite some damage.

"We do have limited dining room seating in the restaurant, and the Greenhouse area is open with booth seating as well," wrote Antonio's

In addition, Hoops-N-Hops — a sister restaurant adjacent to Antonio's — is fully operational. The kitchen is also fully operational for takeout.

Antonio's owner said the back dining room there was damaged, adding no one inside the restaurant was hurt.

According to WVIT Channel 30, Simsbury police said the driver of the vehicle sustained minor injuries and the crash, which happened at about noon, is still under investigation.
