Simsbury Urgently Appeals For Food Donations
Town's community services department says the local food pantry's shelves are starting to become bare.
SIMSBURY, CT — Local officials Tuesday put out an urgent appeal to re-stock the town's food pantry to help food insecure residents.
Simsbury Community and Social Services showed images of a few shelves at the food pantry, located at the Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, 7 Wescott Road, Simsbury.
As part of the initiative, social services officials suggested people actually conduct "food drives" to coincide with any community events or family celebrations they may be having.

For example, the town suggested that folks having birthday parties eschew gifts for the person of honor in exchange for food pantry donations.
"Our needs include oatmeal, coffee, tea, canned meals, pasta sauce, granola bars, crackers, tuna, canned chicken and more," wrote the town Tuesday.
