Your Invitation to Hogwarts Has Just Arrived

This fall, the Storyteller’s Cottage will host four magical Harry Potter activities: Wizard Academy, Back to School at Hogwarts, Dumbledore’s Army, and Magical Pencraft. The cost for each activity varies, and tickets can be reserved at https://www.storytellerscottage.com/book-online/

Wizard Academy

• September 27 - October 25 | 3:30-4:45 pm
• Cost: $125 for 5 weeks, plus $25 for a magic kit to take home
• Illusionist David Reed-Brown, from McBride’s Magic & Mystery School in Las Vegas, will show students how to mystify and amaze their friends and families with a mix of close-up and stand-up magic using cards, ropes, scarves, sponges, and wands.

Back to School at Hogwarts

• September 15 | 1:00-4:00 pm
• Cost: $75
• Students will get sorted into their Hogwarts houses and spend the day taking classes, including Potions, Herbology, History of Magic, Care of Magical Creatures, and Divination. They will also make spell journals and eat chocolate frogs! They should bring a lunch and a wand.

Dumbledore’s Army

• Starts October 13 | 1:00 and 3:00 pm
• Cost: $20 per meeting
• On the second Sunday of each month, students will take two classes and practice Defense Against the Dark Arts.

Magical Pencraft

• Starts September 29 | 1:00-2:30 pm
• Cost: $20 per meeting
• On the last Sunday of each month, students will write fan-fiction about their favorite Harry Potter characters, write spells in verse, write Harry’s college entrance essay, and write about friends they would meet if they attended Hogwarts.

The Storyteller’s Cottage is located in a vintage Victorian house in the center of historic Simsbury, CT, and hosts all manner of immersive literary events throughout the year, including Agatha Christie inspired live murder mystery parties, Great Gatsby themed Jazz Supper Clubs, fascinating close-up illusions at Fine Parlor Magic nights, a Literary Dinner Party series on select evenings at midnight, and more.
