12u Pomperaug Panthers Runner-Ups in Queen of Diamonds USSSA Tournament

The 12u Travel Panthers finish second in the USSSA Queen of Diamonds Fast Pitch softball tournament in East Hartford, CT.  The team was undefeated in pool play and locked up the #2 seed, missing the #1 seed by 1 run.  Sunday, May 2nd, the girls won the semi-final game defeating the Yorktown Huskers 12-5, paving the way for a #1 v #2 showdown.  The game was played in 45 degrees with scattered rain showers.  Both team played well and exchanged the lead for 7 innings.  In the end, Wolcott White took first, but the Panthers played well. 

This was a true team effort and going 4-1 in a weekend is exceptional.  The games consisted of homeruns by Madelyn, Emma and Ella.  Great defense by Meg, Liz and Maddie.  Chloe, Lisa and Skylar all had impactful hits during the games to help bring home victories.  Morgan and Ella both pitched great and were able to pitch with the lead and lock up the victories!  Perhaps the best part of the weekend was the work from the bench.  Paris, Tayden, Amanda, Kayla all were ready with their contributions, from cheering, running, batting.  This was the difference in the game.
