180-Unit Affordable Elderly Housing Project in Southbury On Hold: Report

The developer says the state is not likely to commit funds necessary for the project to move forward.

SOUTHBURY, CT — A proposal to construct 180 units of affordable elderly housing on a portion of the Southbury Training School property appears unlikely to happen, at least for now, reports the Republican-American.

The developer said the state favors family housing now. The developer has a preliminary approval for a $300,000 loan before the state but it's doubtful the state would approve more funds, and therefore the project is on hold, the Rep-Am reports.

The developer tried to make its case to the state but to no avail. Pierce Hollow Village officials say they'd like the town to hold onto the land and they may resurrect plans later if the state will back the project, the Rep-Am reports.
