3 Companies Bid to Serve as Southbury's Paramedic Provider: Report

A vote was expected on the EMS contact vote this week but has been delayed so officials can hear more information.

SOUTHBURY, CT — A decision on who will serve as the town's paramedic service has been delayed at least for now, the Republican-American reports.

Three companies including the current provider Campion Ambulance have submitted bids for the work. Campion was the low bidder at $1.144 million followed by Western Connecticut Health Network bid $1.152 million, and American Medical Response bid $1.46 million, the Rep-Am reports. The contracts are for four years.

The Southbury Emergency Medical Service Committee members are recommending the town remain with Campion saying what they're currently doing is working well. Campion offers a second paramedic when the primary one is working on another call, the Rep-Am reports.

But town officials want to hear more from Western Connecticut Health Network, which is offering to have a paramedic stationed in town. A vote is expected in March.
