Affordable Housing Proposal Draws Negative Reviews In Southbury
A public hearing was held on the plans this week.

SOUTHBURY, CT — A public hearing held on a developer's proposal for a 14-unit affordable housing complex at 390 Roxbury Road yielded predictable results. Long story short, local residents vehemently oppose the project citing noise, traffic and density concerns, the Republican-American reports.
The developer has defended the project saying a great majority of the units will be rented for a fair market value price. No vote has been taken yet.
Because the project was filed under the state's affordable housing statute the town is essentially powerless to stop the project. Southbury can only prevent the project from moving forward by showing there are legitimate health and safety concerns.
