SOUTHBURY, CT — A juvenile student was arrested Wednesday after bringing a BB gun to Pomperaug High School in their backpack, according to the Southbury Police Department.
Police said school administrators and the school's resource officer quickly resolved the incident on Oct. 28, 2026, within minutes of discovering the BB gun.
The student did not have the BBs or CO2 cartridges needed to fire the gun, according to police.
The student cooperated fully with officers and told police they did not know the BB gun was in their backpack until they arrived at school.
"At no point was the BB gun displayed, nor were any threats made," police said in a statement Wednesday.
Police said no students or staff members were injured or placed in danger.
The juvenile was arrested on charges of breach of peace and possession of a dangerous weapon. The student is scheduled to appear in Waterbury Juvenile Court.
