Fundraiser to Benefit The Kitty Connection

                 to benefit The Kitty Connection 

The Golden Button shop hosted a fundraiser in September for The Kitty Connection. The Kitty Connection is an adoption and cat rescue organization that just relocated to Oxford.  The Kitty Connection is owned and operated by Jessica Blauvelt.

Kate Gorham, the owner of The Golden Button, has a soft spot in her heart for The Kitty Connection. Last year Kate and her husband, Pauly, adopted their kitten, Dallas, from The Kitty Connection.  “Pauly and I were so happy to have Dallas that we wanted to help Jessica at The Kitty Connection find other cats homes.” 

Dallas’ Mother, Stella, was about to be euthanized when Jessica rescued her and her two teenage cats. Jessica was not aware at that time that Stella was also pregnant with four other kittens! Dallas and all of his brothers and sister were born just weeks later!!! All of the kittens found wonderful homes in the area.  

To help support The Kitty Connection, adults and children of all ages were invited to create a diorama to display at The Golden Button. Artists focused on creating artwork inside a found box. There were no rules, except to be creative.  Kate Gorham created handmade ribbons which were awarded to the artists by Jessica Blauvelt and Avril Fraser, kindergarten teacher, at Creative Arts Studio in Woodbury. 

We had a very successful event.  We raised awareness about the organization and helped to feed some cats in the process.
