Attendance Concerns Leads To Political Flap In Southbury: Report

The attendance of a Board of Selectmen member, who is a liaison to the Park and Recreation Commission, has been called into question.

SOUTHBURY, CT – Democratic Selectman Michael Rosen says Republicans are trying to discredit him just days prior to the municipal election. Republican Parks and Recreation Chairman Charlie Rosa has asked the Board of Selectmen remove Rosen as a liaison to his board after he missed 14 of 18 meetings, the Republican-American reports.

Rosa says it's not a political issue, but strictly an attendance issue. Rosen works in Stamford and said he studies meeting minutes and strongly advocates for the parks department. Rosa said that is not acceptable and the commission needs a liaison from the Board of Selectmen to physically attend meetings, the Rep-Am reports.

Rosen countered that term limits may be needed for people who serve on boards and commissions. Rosa has served on the commission for four plus decades.
