Classes Canceled Friday At Pomperaug Region 15 Public Schools

SOUTHBURY, CT — Pomperaug Region 15 Public Schools, which cover Southbury and Middlebury, will be closed on Friday, Jan. 7, due to the inclement weather expected to sweep through Connecticut overnight, district officials announced.

"When we have high confidence rates in the weather forecast, it is possible to provide additional time for families to make appropriate plans," wrote Schools Superintendent Joshua Smith on Facebook (see below). "While this is often not the case in our area, I feel that there are several factors that allow for notice tonight. The storm’s timing, anticipated rates of accumulation, and the additional staffing pressures on our state’s department of transportation will make managing tomorrow’s storm difficult."
