Developer's Affordable Housing Plan Has New Date In Southbury
Neighbors oppose the project.

SOUTHBURY, CT — There will be no decision on developer Kevin Bennett's controversial plan to construct a 14-unit affordable housing complex at 390 Roxbury Road until at least Aug. 28, the Republican-American reports.
The meeting will occur at 7 p.m. in Town Hall in Room 205 on Aug. 28. Neighbors vehemently oppose the plans but because it's an affordable housing application, the local zoning board is essentially powerless to deny the project.
For affordable housing applications the burden of proof is on the town, not the developer, to prove why the application shouldn't be built, and only health and safety concerns can be cited in a denial.
