Greater Waterbury Scholarship Program Announces Winners
Sarah Barrett has been crowned Miss Southbury 2017.
From the Greater Waterbury Scholarship Program: On Sunday, December 18th the Greater Waterbury Scholarship Program held its first pageant at the Rotella Interdistrict Magnet School. This is the preliminary competition to Miss Connecticut and Miss Connecticut’s Outstanding Teen. The pageant for the Miss Contestants was open to young women ages 17 – 24. The Teen competition was open to contestants ages 13-17.
Serena Charbonneau was crowned Miss Greater Waterbury 2017

- Hometown: Wolcott
- Platform: The Butterfly Effect: Promoting a Healthy Mind & Body
- When asked one thing that is unique about her, she states: I am able to do handstand pushups
- When asked to finish this sentence “I will most Likely…” Her answer was “I will most likely develop a new psychological theory”
- Serena goes to the Wolcott High School. She is excited to be representing Greater Waterbury at the state competition in June.
Amanda Morelli was crowned Miss Greater Waterbury Outstanding Teen 2017

- Platform: S.M.A.R.T— Social Media Awareness and Responsible Texting
- When asked one thing that is unique about her, she states: I’ve been to Italy and Greece
- When asked to finish this sentence “I will most Likely…” Her answer was “I will most likely put barbecue sauce on it”.
- Amanda attends Wolcott High School. She is excited to be representing Greater Waterbury at the state competition in June.

- When asked one thing that is unique about her, she states: I have a passion for baking
- When asked to finish this sentence “I will most Likely…” Her answer was “I will most likely endure a spirit of service”
- Sarah attends college at the University of Connecticut and resides on the Storrs campus. She is so excited to be representing Southbury at the state competition in June.
Brooke Eve Cyr was crowned Miss Naugatuck Valley’s Outstanding Teen 2017

- Hometown: Waterbury
- Platform: A World Free of MS Bank On It
- When asked one thing that is unique about her, she states: I like to walk on my hands more than my feet!
- When asked to finish this sentence “I will most Likely…” Her answer was “I will most likely be the Miss Naugatuck Valley’s Outstanding Teen that is remembered for her ability to hit a hand into the residential area and walk alongside them, working to establish a solid relationship and partnership for the Miss America Organization”
- Brooke goes to Holy Cross High school. She is so excited to be representing Naugatuck Valley at the state competition in June.
All the winners have started to visit local businesses, introducing themselves. They would love the opportunity to get to know the members in their community.
