Labor Day 2018: What's Open, Closed In Southbury

Here are the closings to be aware of during the end-of-summer holiday in Southbury.

SOUTHBURY, CT — Whether you're ready or not, the unofficial end of summer is approaching. The Labor Day holiday weekend might be some consolation for the end of your summer relaxation, but that means some services will be shut down for the long weekend of Sept. 1-3.

Southbury government will observe the following holiday schedule:

  • Town Offices – closed
  • Schools - closed
  • Libraries – In addition to being closed Saturday, September 1 and Sunday, September 2, the library will also be closed Monday, September 3 for Labor Day. The library will reopen Tuesday, September 4 at 9:30am.
  • Transfer station - closed
  • Liquor and Grocery Stores – all stores will be open; check individually for hours.
  • Recreation – The Senior Center will be closed.
  • Superior Court – closed
  • Financial markets, such as the New York Stock Exchange
  • Post offices

Saturday, September 1, to Monday, September 3 (Labor Day) On Saturday, September 1 and Sunday, September 2, a regular weekend schedule will be in effect. On Monday, September 3, Labor Day, a Sunday schedule will be in effect on the Harlem, Hudson and New Haven Lines. Most connecting services will not operate on Labor Day. However, the Tappan Zee Express will operate, on a Weekend schedule. Grand Central North will be closed Saturday, Sunday and Monday. See their schedules page for more details on train times.
