Latest Southbury Coronavirus Updates
Here are the latest local updates on how the coronavirus outbreak is impacting Southbury:
SOUTHBURY, CT — The new coronavirus continues to disrupt life in Southbury, the state and the world. Lately the town has taken additional measures to help promote better social distancing, including removing basketball hoops in parks after reports of congregating groups.
Southbury has 36 laboratory-confirmed coronavirus cases as of April 8. Connecticut has 8,781 confirmed cases, 335 deaths and 1,418 total hospitalizations. A total of 31,700 resident tests have been tested.

Here are the latest local updates from Southbury:
The town is asking for patience when it comes to the Transfer Station on Kettletown Road. Traffic patterns will change in the area to provide more space for users and workers. Saturday and Tuesday are the peak days of the week and residents are asked to consider using the transfer station on other days of the week.

Drive-thru testing has been announced for Saturday April 11. Check here for the details.
Southbury has closed all town buildings to the public and town hall visits must be made by appointment.
The senior center is closed and senior center transportation is only being offered for medical appointments. Heritage Village transportation is being offered for grocery shopping and medical appointments only.
Town parks remain open, but residents are reminded to practice social distancing. Basketball hoops and tennis nets were removed because some residents weren't practicing social distancing.
The Southbury library is closed and all late fees on DVDs and books are being waived. Library members should hang on to their checked out items until further notice.

Schools
Schools are closed until at least April 20 per Gov. Ned Lamont's executive order. Region 15 students are learning remotely.
Businesses
Southbury has established a hotline for businesses that have questions. Call (203) 262-0683 or email: EcoDevDirector@southbury-ct.gov to reach Economic Development Director, Kevin Bielmeier for questions or assistance.
The town has also put together a list of restaurants offering takeout or delivery. There is also a Facebook group Southbury Eats which helps restaurants get information out during this time.
