New Details Released Concerning Southbury's First Major House Fire of 2017: Report

A neighbor is credited with calling 911 quickly to help prevent the house from being a total loss.

SOUTHBURY, CT — New details are emerging about Southbury's first major house fire of 2017.

Fire officials credit a neighbor who immediately called 911 Wednesday afternoon, which helped save the house at 695 Roxbury Road from being totally destroyed, the Republican-American reports. Michael C. Lang lives at the house with his two children.

The fire damage was confined largely to a family room though there is heat and water damage elsewhere, the Rep-Am reports. Lang and his family are receiving assistance from the American Red Cross and anyone who wants to help future families impacted by fires and or disasters can go to www.redcross.org and make a donation to Red Cross Disaster Relief.
