New Movie Theater and Playhouse Planned for Southbury

A developer is planning to open a new movie theater and playhouse at 690 Main Street South, the Waterbury Republican-American reports.

There would be eight screens, performing arts space, a restaurant, retail storefronts, and two apartments, reporter Bill Bittar reports.

The project still requires Inland Wetlands and Planning and Zoning Commission. The developer said he hopes to begin construction in late fall and have the theater open in the summer.
