Numerous Political Appointments Made In Southbury

Several people were appointed to key boards, commissions and positions in town government.

SOUTHBURY, CT — At the Southbury Board of Selectmen meeting held in January numerous political appointments were made and several residents were appointed to key commissions in town.

Here is the full rundown of all of the appointments and resignations:

RESOLVED, that the Southbury Board of Selectmen hereby accepts the retirement of Susan J. Shpunt as Assistant Town Clerk, effective February 2, 2018.

RESOLVED, that the Southbury Board of Selectmen hereby reappoints/moves the following:

Building Code Board of Appeals – reappoints Frank Cavallo, Gary Dennen, and Robert Weil, for terms to expire on January 15, 2022.

Celebration Committee – reappoints Brian Jones, Carole Van Tassel, Steve Hinckley, Dustin Huguenin, Louise Mansour, and Jeffrey Manville, for terms to expire on January 15, 2019.

EMS Committee – reappoints Suzanne Vetter (SAA representative), David Rentz (HVA representative), Timothy Baldwin and Michelle Rasmussen (STS Representatives) and Ed Bendlin and Judy Lee (Citizen Representatives) as regular members; and Geralyn Hoyt (SAA representative) as an alternate member, for terms to expire on January 15, 2020.

Ethics Commission – reappoints Janet Gall as a regular member and Gregory Goolkasian as an alternate member, for terms to expire on January 15, 2020.

Fire Police – reappoints Kenneth Anderson, James Haman, Gerald Tomanio, Chad Young, Terry Brenn, and Andy Adams, for terms to expire on January 15, 2020.

Hearings Officer (Alarm, and Inland Wetlands) – reappoints Joseph Chapman, for a term to expire on January 15, 2020.

Historian – reappoints Joyce Hornbecker and John Dwyer, for terms to expire on January 15, 2022.

Inland Wetlands Commission – Moves Donna Lesch from alternate member to regular member, for a term to expire on December 6, 2021.

IT Steering Committee – reappoints John Kelbley, for a term to expire on January 15, 2020.

Memorial Day Parade Committee – reappoints Peter D’Amato, Marietta Korsu, Donna Stevens-Jacobs, and Lisa Salese as members and the Director of Parks & Recreation and the Resident Trooper Sgt. as advisors, for terms to expire on January 15, 2020.

Northwest CT Convention & Visitors Bureau – reappoints Marietta Korsu, for a term to expire on January 15, 2019.

Planning Commission – reappoints Nancy Clark as regular member; and moves Alexandra Gittines from alternate member to regular member, for terms to expire on December 6, 2021.

Pomperaug Health District – reappoints Paul Nee, for a term to expire on June 30, 2020.

Road Study Committee – reappoints George Goodwin, John Muscolino, Richard Hill, Arthur von Holtz and Robert Harrison as members, and John Cottell, DeLoris Curtis and James Sugden as advisors, for terms to expire on January 15, 2020.

Rural Preservation Advisory Committee – reappoints Jeffrey Manville, for a term to expire on December 2, 2019; and Vivian Templeton for a term to expire on January 15, 2020.

Social Services Director – reappoints Sandra Saren, for a term to expire on January 15, 2020.

Sub-Registrars of Vital Statistics – reappoints Richard Carpino and Lissa Lovetere Stone, for terms to expire January 1, 2020.

RESOLVED, that the Southbury Board of Selectmen, upon the recommendation of the Director of Public Works, hereby hire the following as on call per diem, as needed, laborers at the Transfer Station, subject to successful completion of medical examination, including drug screen:
