Gary Allen Phillips, 60, of Southbury, died unexpectedly on Sunday, April 24, 2016. He graduated from Henry Abbott Technical School in 1974.

Gary was born in Danbury on January 7, 1956, the son of Mabel and George Phillips of Newtown. Besides his parents, he leaves his wife of nearly 40 years, Mary Ann, his son Justin and wife Ashley of Southbury, his daughters Kayleigh and her husband Kevin Martin of Wallingford, Carli Phillips and George Young of Meriden, and Taylor Phillips of Wallingford.

He also leaves behind his only sister, Diane Doling, her husband Robert, and many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and his best buddy, Quinn, the Eskimo dog.

Gary was employed by Georgia-Pacific/Blue Linx in Newtown for 25 years, and was most recently employed by PrimeSource of Waterbury. He was also employed by The Gym in Southbury where he was loved by many.

He was a racing enthusiast who was mostly passionate about open-wheel racing. He personally raced go-karts and mini sprints, and was the flagman for Nutmeg Karting Association for many years.
