Obituary: Genevieve Mary Shandor, 90, of Southbury

Southbury – Genevieve Mary Shandor, 90, of Heritage Village, died Wednesday, June 15th at Regional Hospice in Danbury. She was the wife of the late Steve Shandor.

Mrs. Shandor was born May 8, 1926, in Windber, PA, daughter of the late Julius and Agatha (Scarpulla) Savino. She was educated in Yonkers, NY and had worked as a seamstress. Her passion was her family and art. She was a talented artist and exhibited her artwork locally. 

She was a past president of the Brush and Pencil Club in Heritage Village. She leaves two loving daughters, Donna DiBartolo and her husband, Ric, of Redding and Gina Occhigrossi and Bill Kivel of Brewster, NY; and two beloved grandchildren, Griffin Occhigrossi and Eve DiBartolo. She is also survived by her sister, Elizabeth Hipius and her brother, Jay Savino. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, June 20th at 10:30 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, 910 Main Street South, Southbury. Burial will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Danbury. No calling hours. Arrangements by Carpino Funeral Home, Southbury
