Obituary: Robert Norris Greene, Sr. 84 of Southbury

He gave freely of his time and talent as a volunteer for numerous organizations in Southbury.

Services: Services will be held on Wednesday, May 4 at the United Church of Christ, 283 Main Street North, Southbury, Connecticut. Burial to follow at Great Hill Cemetery, Seymour, Connecticut. The family invites all friends of Bob to join them for a reception at the Church, beginning at 1:00 P.M.

Visitation: Calling hours are 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, May 3 at Munson-Lovetere Funeral Home, 235 Main St., Southbury, Connecticut.

Robert Norris Greene, Sr. 84 of Southbury, Connecticut passed away peacefully in the presence of his family April 28, 2016. Bob was born July 3, 1931, in Stamford Connecticut to Clifford D. Greene and Grace Norris Greene.

Bob grew up in Stamford, graduating from Stamford High School in 1949. Following graduation, Bob joined the Air Force in 1950 and worked with the 93rd Fighter-Interceptor squadron as a Radar Mechanic until his honorable discharge in 1954. Bob married his wife of sixty years, Marie Hummel, on April 14, 1956.

He gave freely of his time and talent as a volunteer for numerous organizations in Southbury. Bob enjoyed the time he spent with the Heritage Village HAMM Radio Club and Computer Club. He served with distinction as a member of the Democratic Town Committee and Zoning Board of Appeals.

Bob shared his considerable skill with computers through his website (www.computenow.com) and by building computers from scratch for friends and family, all while listening to the music of his favorite country artist, Johnny Cash.

Bob is survived by his beloved wife Marie; brothers, Clifford of San Diego, California, Washington and Lawrence of Seattle, Washington; children Susan Greene Powers and longtime family friend Thomas Rouse of Plainville; son Robert Greene Jr. of Oxford; grandchildren Sarah Powers, William Powers, Robert Greene III and his fiancé Jess Fedor, and at Cady Greene.
