Services: A short service will be held at 10a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, followed by her burial at St. James Cemetery in Naugatuck.

Visitation: Calling hours will be held at Munson-Lovetere Funeral Home in Southbury on Wednesday, 5/18 from 5-8p.m.

Born in Naugatuck, CT, September 14, 1946, Ruth lived in Southbury for the past 50 years, where she was admired by all who knew her.

Ruth was instrumental in the starting and growing of Eastern Water Development with her former husband Robert Grant.

She had a love for life and an infectious smile, always willing to lend a hand wherever needed. Everyone who knew her could not help but love her, for she had the biggest heart of all.

She was an active volunteer in community groups and a donor to numerous organizations.

Her love for animals was immeasurable, she even fed the local wild animals daily.

She was an avid reader and loved working in gardens. She also had a soft spot for the elderly, helping to take care of them, their gardens, and their homes.

She is survived by her long time companion Vincent Brazis, her son, Shane Grant and his wife Lori, her daughter Tara Beardsley and her husband Dana, her brother John, sister Diane Pingleton and brother Richard and his wife Barbara.

She also leaves behind her beloved grand-babies Tyler, Janey, Shane Jr., Austin, Joey and Logan (Bubba), along with her 2 cats Diego and Leila, several nieces and nephews, and her dearest friend, Laure Clancy. She was preceded in death by her parents John and Patricia Butwell.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the CT Humane Society, 701 Russell Rd. Newington, CT 06111.
