Police managed to wrangle the opossum into a hamper before safely returning it to the wild.

SOUTHBURY, CT — A woman found a strange intruder in her bed in the overnight hours, but police managed to capture and release him using a hamper. That intruder was an opossum.
Officer Jaques and Cpl. Armeno used a soft hamper to bring the opossum back outside, according to police.
Opossums are scavengers and omnivores that primarily feed at night. They tend to flee when confronted by humans, according to the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection. They are known to get into garbage, but they benefit people by eating insects, mice and voles.
