Orphaned Kitten Will Soon be Available for Adoption in Southbury

The mostly white shorthair is being cared for at the dog pound.

Icicle, an orphaned kitten, was rescued twice in 24 hours, the Republican-American reports.

Rescued from under the hood of a car on Thursday, the six-week-old kitten was brought to the Southbury Dog Pound the same day.

Friday morning, Assistant Animal Control Officer Martha Stephens found the kitten missing when she went to feed her, the paper reports. Stephen searched for the kitten with animal control officer Marilyn Muratori-Jarvis, finding her underneath the bathroom floor.

Stephens told the paper the town garage was called in to get the kitten out safely. She was named Icicle after Brian Ice, the summer public works employee who rescued her.

Icicle’s medical expenses are being taken care of by volunteer organization Martha’s Voice and by the town itself. According to the paper, Stephens and Muratori-Jarvis will care for the kitten for the next two weeks and will then accept applications for adoption.
