Domestic Dispute on Southford Rd

Police responded to a domestic dispute on Southford Rd between a 56-year-old man and his 18-year-old son.  After an investigation, the father was arrested for disorderly conduct.

Woman Arrested for Shoplifting at K-Mart

Southbury Police were called to the K-Mart in Southbury Plaza for a report of a shoplifting.  After an investigation, police arrested a 24-year-old Waterbury woman for sixth degree larceny.  She was released on a $1,000 surety bond.

DUI on Main St North

An officer observed a vehicle traveling erratically and at a high rate of speed on Main St North.  The vehicle straddled the white line of the shoulder and drifted into the non-travel portion.  The officer conducted a motor vehicle stop and arrested the driver, a 43-year-old Woodbury man for Driving Under the Influence and Unsafe Movement.

Car Rolled Over, Caught Fire During Rainstorm

A Volkswagen beetle rolled over the front lawn of 560 East Flat Hil Rd and caught fire after skidding out of control while speeding on that — wet — road.

The driver, an 18-year-old Southbury woman, escaped without injury.  The fire department was able to extinguish the fire.  The vehicle sustained moderate damage.

Police determined the driver was traveling too fast for the road conditions — wet and raining and on the curve of a hill — and was given an infraction.

Vehicle Struck Guardrail, Driver May Have Been Suffering Medical Condition

A 52-year-old Woodbury woman was traveling south on Main St North when her vehicle veered off the left side of the roadway, jumped a curb and struck a guardrail.  A witness said the woman appeared to have been suffering a medical conditional at the time and the driver was transported to Danbury hospital for evaluation.

Minor Arrested for Marijuana Possession

After conducting a motor vehicle stop for a moving violation on Strongtown road, an officer detected a strong odor of marijuana from the vehicle.  A search uncovered Marijuana and drug paraphernalia and the 16-year-old male driver was arrested for possession of marijuana (in amounts less than four ounces) and drug paraphernalia.
