Pomperaug High School Principal Serves Suspension for Plagiarism

The unpaid suspension has been served.

SOUTHBURY, CT — Pomperaug High School Principal Glenn Lungarini served an eight-day, unpaid suspension for plagiarizing last year's graduation speech, the Republican-American reports. The speech was very similar to one given by U.S. Admiral William H. McRaven during a college graduation in 2014, the Rep-Am reports.

Lungarini told the Rep-Am that someone had provided him with the words for the speech and he was unaware that they belonged to someone else. He said by failing to check, he did in-fact commit plagiarism. He has since apologized to the community and students.

Despite the incident, several officials and parents praised Lungarini for his work at the high school.
