Region 15 2017-2018 School Calendar Approved

SOUTHBURY, CT — At the Board of Education meeting on January 9, 2017, the 2017-2018 single year calendar was approved. The 2017-2018 school year marks the second year that the school district is required by the State of Connecticut to follow a regional calendar that is aligned with the calendar proposed by the district’s Regional Educational Service Center (RESC).

Ed Advance, formerly known as Education Connection, is the RESC that services Region 15. There are six RESC’s in the state.

A Region 15 Calendar Committee was developed with representatives from the Board of Education, administration, and teachers and parents representing each school in the district. The committee was required to align Region 15’s calendar with the calendar proposed by EdAdvance. Limited flexibility was given for school vacations, school start dates, and professional development.

In the 2017-18 school year, the first day of school for students is August 29th, 2017 and the anticipated last day of school is June 8th, 2018. Winter recess is scheduled for Monday, December 25th, 2017 through Monday, January 1st, 2018 and April recess is scheduled for April 16th through 20th, 2018.
