Resident Arrested for Embezzling Has Trial Continued to Sept. 23

Deborah Cooper is facing charges of stealing over $200,000 from businesses in the region.

Thursday, the Southbury woman facing charges of larceny and forgery for stealing over $200,000 had her trial continued to Sept. 23.

In July, Deborah Cooper, 43, of 1098 West Purchase Road was accused of stealing from five businesses for which she worked as a bookkeeper.

One of the business owners - Brad Davis of Davis Companion Animal Hospital in Woodbury - has also filed a civil suit against Cooper.

Cooper is accused of stealing $99,000 from Davis, $23,500 from Jason G. Stokes Masonry of Bethlehem, $47,000 from Stone Craft in Woodbury and  $40,000 from Bob Pabst Land Clearing Inc. of Woodbury, according to state police.
