Southbury Church to Build New Facility
Community Chapel has worshiped in the Pomperaug High School cafeteria for close to 30 years.

The Community Chapel has worshiped in the Pomperaug High School cafeteria for close to 30 years, but the church is soon moving out and into its own facility, according to Pastor Jim Welty.
The Waterbury Republican-American reports that the church will build its new home at Judd Road and Route 188.
“Currently we are moving dirt off property and continuing with excavation and clean up,” the church wrote on its website. “We also have an architect on board!”

Welty says the new church, which is largely funded by donations from its 180 members, will be a two-story structure of about 18,000 square feet and will cost about $2.5 million.
A specific date for its completion has not been released.
