Southbury Continues Hope to Fill Vacant Town-Owned Commercial Site
But the town has long moved on from thoughts of a large commercial tenant occupying the Southbury Corporate Park.

SOUTHBURY, CT — Town officials have moved on from the prospect that the 202-acre Southbury Corporate Park property will hold a large commercial tenant, but that doesn't mean they've given up on filling the site, reports the Waterbury Republican-American.
Nicknamed "Barney," after the purple children's dinosaur, the huge site cost the town more than $5 million to acquire over a decade ago, and it has sat vacant ever since.
Possible uses for the property, located along I-84 between Lakeside and Ichabod roads, include recreational space, open space, site of future town or school district facilities and housing developments, among other ideas.
