Southbury Energy Fair and Green Expo Coming Up This Month

The fair will feature activities for kids, music, food trucks, and "fun and engaging" exhibits.

SOUTHBURY, CT — The Southbury Energy Fair and Green Expo will be Saturday, Sept. 30, rain or shine, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will be at the Town Hall Green, 501 Main St. S.

The fair will feature activities for kids, music, food trucks, and "fun and engaging" exhibits, according to a Sustainable Southbury statement.

The fair is aligned with National Drive Electric Week and will feature a variety of electric vehicles, including those from event sponsor Kia. Chatfield’s True Value Hardware and Stihl will showcase electrical lawn equipment. ELC Energy Efficiency Solutions will show solar options, EV chargers, and energy-efficient lighting.

People can learn about making use of clean energy, reducing energy use and carbon footprint, reducing waste, reducing wasted food, recycling more effectively, and how to live more sustainably across 12 different categories of sustainability, according to Sustainable Southbury.

The fair will kick off a community energy campaign that includes home energy audits, heat pumps, solarization, home battery storage systems, EV chargers, and information on financial incentives and rebates.

"Sustainable Southbury exhibits include our popular recycling tent featuring recycling 'Dos' and 'Don’ts', alternative products to single-use plastics, and information on the REFUSE TO USE and REFILL NOT LANDFILL campaigns," according to the statement. "There will also be exhibits on ways to reduce wasted food and food scrap recycling, our Safe Street Initiative, and the community energy campaign. Other exhibitors will feature Arts & Culture events, local businesses, and environmental conservation groups."
