Southbury Man Killed in Dump Truck Accident

James P. Walsh, an 80-year-old Southbury resident, has died from injuries sustained yesterday when he was struck by a dump truck on the property of his Newtown mulch business, according to the News-Times.

An 80-year-old man was transported to Danbury Hospital this afternoon after he was reportedly hit by a dump truck on the premises of his Newtown business.

The victim, James Walsh, is the the owner of Walsh Mulch on Toddy Hill Road, according to Fire Chief Bill Halstead. The call came in to the Sandy Hook Fire Department (SHFD) at 2:02 p.m.

Halstead said that Walsh was conscious as he was being transported, but that he had suffered serious injuries. Newtown Police are still investigating the accident and expect to release a report later today.
