Southbury: Operation Backpack
Back to School shopping starts early for Southbury Women's Club members and we could use your help!
Back to School shopping starts early for Southbury Women’s Club members who work closely with Southbury Social Services to provide local children in need with school supplies.
Last year SWC provided over 80 backpacks to Region 15 children who may otherwise not have these supplies for the start of school. Each school in our district collects and provides SWC with every grade’s list of recommended school supplies. Using that information, each child receives a quality backpack filled with their school/grade’s required school supplies to ensure they have a successful start to the new school year.
Operation Backpack is a long-standing project of SWC and would not be successful without the amazing support we receive from the local community and local businesses. We are looking to raise $2500, over the summer to cover the backpack expenses. In addition to placing collection jars throughout the community this summer, we are also still accepting sponsors to help support this event through July 15th.
