Man Suffering Psychotic Episode Subdued by Taser
A taser was used to subdue a man suffering from a psychotic episode in Southbury Thursday morning.
According to police reports, officers responded to a residence on Flood Bridge Road in Southbury where a man was having a psychotic episode and threatening himself with a knife. The man was shot with a taser and subsequently subdued by numerous officers.

The man was then sent to Waterbury Hospital on an emergency committal where he was admitted for psychiatric evaluation. The man sustained minor cuts in the incident.

Southbury Police are investigating a burglary at McDonald’s in the Southbury Plaza after a person broke into the business in the early morning hours on Wednesday, July 18 and stole cash from the ATM.
According to police reports, the individual broke into the restaurant, pried open the ATM located in the lobby and stole cash from the machine. The ATM was severely damaged in the process. Employees discovered the burglary upon arriving at work Wednesday.
The Connecticut State Police Major Crime Unit responded to the scene. Video surveillance was examined and evidence was collected as an investigation continues. Anyone with information is asked to call Southbury Ofc. Robert Burke at (203) 264-5912.
Car Stolen on Roxbury Road
Southbury police are investigating the theft of an automobile that was stolen from a Roxbury Road residence on Tuesday, July 17 at approximately 10:45 a.m. Anyone with information is asked to call Southbury Police at (203) 264-5912.
Danbury Man Arrested for Southbury Larcenies
Terrai Maurice Belin, 18, of Danbury was charged with Conspiracy to Commit a Class ‘C’ felony on Tuesday, July 16.
According to police reports, Belin was arrested on a warrant as a result of the investigation of multiple larcenies from motor vehicles that occurred between May 17 – May 18.
Belin was released on $7,000 surety bond and is scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on July 25.
