Southbury Receives Some Potentially Awful Financial News from Hartford: Report
Local officials were informed that current proposals would reduce state aid to Southbury by potentially millions of dollars.

SOUTHBURY, CT — When is the news from Hartford good these days? Well the recent trend of bad news from Hartford continues as state Rep. Arthur O'Neil, R-Southbury, informed local officials this week, according to the Republican-American.
O'Neil told Board of Finance members that Southbury stands to lose $1.6 million next year and again in 2019 in education funding from the state and an additional $170,000 cut in state aid next year.
Southbury may also have to pay more than $2 million next year to help fund the teachers pension program at the state level, the Rep-Am reports. Again, nothing has been approved by the General Assembly as of now but many of the current ideas would impact Southbury for years to come and greatly impact local taxpayers.
