Southbury Removes Nets, Hoops In Parks Due To Coronavirus

People haven't been heeding the warning to social distance, so the basketball hoops and tennis nets in parks are coming down.

SOUTHBURY, CT — The town is removing basketball hoops and tennis nets in town parks due to the lack of social distancing. First Selectman Jeff Manville ordered the removal Wednesday.

Southbury has 13 confirmed coronavirus cases while Oxford has 11 and Woodbury has six, according to the Pomperaug District Department of Health.

The Town of Southbury Senior Services along with the Knights of Columbus has organized a grocery shopping and delivery brigade to help seniors. Seniors can submit grocery needs online or if they don't have Internet access they can call 203-262-0651. Seniors are encouraged to submit a list that would provide enough groceries for a week.
