Southbury Selectmen Approve Municipal Budget; Cuts Made
The selectmen whittled the initial request down by $150,000.

SOUTHBURY, CT - The Board of Selectmen have approved a $21.4 million municipal budget for fiscal 2016-17 which increases spending 1.5 percent or $318,209, the Republican-American reports.
Highlights include: reducing the initial request by $150,000 including $67,000 for road salt and eliminating $43,000 that was requested to fund a new police officer position.
The budget now advances to the Board of Finance. Selectmen reported that the tone of deliberations was civil and bi-partisan.
