Southbury's Reduced Budget Now Heads To Taxpayers: Report
Residents will vote on the budget at a referendum later this spring.

SOUTHBURY, CT — Residents will vote on a $21.7 million budget for fiscal 2017-18 on May 3 as part of a budget referendum, the Republican-American reports.
The proposed budget increases spending by 2.4 percent over the current spending plan, which is at $21.2 million.
Board of Selectmen members called the scaled-down budget responsible and fair to the taxpayer. Some of the key components of the budget include: $100,000 for upgrades to the pool liner at Ballantine Park but a proposal to add $30,000 to build a pavilion at Settlers Park was not included in next year's budget.
