State Police Investigating Attempted Bank Robbery in Southbury: BREAKING
State Police are searching for the suspect who fled the scene.
SOUTHBURY, CT - Troopers from Troop A-Southbury and officers from the Southbury Resident Trooper’s Office are investigating an attempted bank robbery that occurred at the People’s Bank, 100 Main St., Southbury, located in Stop & Shop.
At 12:15 p.m. Sunday officers responded to a reported attempted bank robbery at the People’s Bank.
Upon arrival Southbury officers spoke with bank employees who stated a male suspect entered the bank and demanded money, State Police said in a news release.

The suspect implied that he had a weapon, but none was shown, the news release states. No injuries were reported.
The lone suspect was described as white male approximately 5’5”-5’8” tall wearing a red hooded sweatshirt with a grey/white checkered shirt, white baseball hat, and light-colored pants. The male suspect was unshaven, and had light brown hair.

State troopers responded to the scene and conducted a search of the area. State Police detectives from Western District Major Crime also responded to the scene and will assist in the investigation.
