State Trooper Cares for Baby Deer at His Home

The Troop A in Southbury officer arrived at a scene and found the mother deer dead and he decided to care for the two baby deer.

A police officer’s creed is to protect and serve and State Police Trooper Ben Pagoni has definitely taken that message to heart.

Trooper Ben Pagoni from Troop A in Southbury recently responded to a call where a mother deer had been killed.

Pagoni saw that the two baby deer were left without a mother and no rescues were available for them, so he decided to take them and care for them at his home until a rescue becomes available.

“Oh deer! Sometimes Troopers get more than they bargain for when responding to a call ...Trooper Pagoni got permission to take custody of the deer and has been caring for them at his home with the help of his family until a rescue becomes available,” State Police said.
