Stolen Jeep in Southbury Leads to High-Speed Chase

The Waterbury teen was apprehended once he was tased.

Southbury police say Everton A. Whyte, 17, of Waterbury allegedly stole a 2009 Jeep Wrangler from a Robinson Lane house early Wednesday, and later would lead police on a high-speed chase on Interstate 84 through Waterbury before he would be apprehended by the use of a Taser, the Waterbury Republican-American reports.

The alleged crime spree began when Whyte stole the jeep and was later spotted by officers. Whyte failed to stop his vehicle and entered I-84 East where he travelled in excess of 100 miles per hour, according to reporter Chris Gardner.

Whyte struck a guardrail and continued until he hit a bridge wall, got out of his vehicle and tried to make a run for it until he was struck with a Taser and apprehended.
