Composting food scraps has a range of benefits: it creates nutrient rich soil, supports local farmers and gardeners, reduces the need for pesticides and fertilizers, reduces greenhouse gas emissions, and reduces the tonnage of our town’s landfill waste -- thus saving the town money.
The survey will be used to help understand if residents would be interested in dropping off their food waste at the town transfer station for a commercial hauler to pick up and turn into high-quality compost that can be used by farmers and members of the community for food and flower gardens.
