Trump Won't Be Impeached...At Least Not In Southbury: Report

A local petition seeking Trump's ouster or removal from office has been deemed invalid.

SOUTHBURY, CT — President Donald Trump can breathe a sigh of relief as the town of Southbury won't move forward with local resolutions aimed at removing Trump from office. The Board of Selectmen has decided to reject a petition from some residents that would recommend Trump's ouster, the Republican-American reports.

The vote was along party lines. The town's legal counsel concluded that the petition was invalid. If the petition was deemed valid it would have led to a town meeting and residents would vote on whether to support impeachment or the removal of Trump from the White House, the Rep-Am reports.

Republicans argued that they should spend time discussing important local issues, while Democrats argued that the public has a right to be heard on the petition.
