• GametimeCT 2026 Preseason Top 10 High School Football Poll: New Canaan is unanimous No. 1 (nhregister.com) — Southington High's football team opens the 2026 season ranked No. 3 in the statewide GametimeCT preseason Top 10 poll, the highest spot for any Class LL runner-up. With many starters returning, the Blue Knights are viewed as serious contenders behind powerhouse New Canaan and Greenwich, setting up a high-expectations fall for local fans.
• CT man found dead after going missing while hiking in Montana. He was an 'explorer and adventurer' (courant.com) — Southington is mourning 21-year-old Jackson Gregory Slimak, who died after an apparent fall while hiking near Granite Peak in Montana, days after he was reported missing. Friends and supporters have launched a GoFundMe to help his family, remembering him as an adventurous traveler, devoted gamer, and longtime YMCA Camp Sloper camper and lifeguard.
