GE is pioneering the trend to matte finishes with its new Slate finish appliance package. The appliance manufacturer conducted exhaustive consumer research on design trends in the kitchen, home furnishings, home entertainment products and even the automotive industry.
The result pointed to slate - a dark, low gloss finish that complements today’s fashionable wall colors, countertop materials and floor and cabinetry finishes.

“For some time now, stainless steel has been the top choice for kitchen appliances; however, we think the GE Slate finish will be the next big trend,” CAFD owner Doug DuPont announced at the unveiling of the new display.“Its rich stone texture is unlike anything on the market today. We installed a full GE Slate Kitchen because we want our showroom to be the #1 resource for retail customers and trade professionals.”
CAFD is showcasing the GE Slate finish French Door Refrigerator, Freestanding Range, Over Range Microwave and Built-In Dishwasher on its showroom floor. The Slate appliances are finished with bold, brushed metal knobs and handles, and their matte finish resists fingerprints and makes cleaning easy.
Replace a single appliance or an entire kitchen
Whether replacing a single appliance or an entire kitchen, slate appliances make a design statement, while harmonizing perfectly with today’s colors and finishes.
CAFD showroom sales representative, Kathy Dudzic says, “Slate fits our customers who don’t want stainless steel because of the fingerprints or black appliances because they make the kitchen too dark. It also matches the honed granites that people are using on their countertops.”
CAFD Sales Manager, John Gillotti, summed up the excitement at CAFD when he said, “For some time now, most of our clients have purchased stainless. But this new color works well with a variety of cabinets, flooring and overall décor, and resists fingerprints, which is a leading concern when it comes to stainless steel appliances. Leave it to GE to be the trend setter. This new rich Slate color has the potential to be a big hit.”
CAFD owner, Doug DuPont, has invited leading kitchen designers and remodelers, as well as their retail customers, to experience the stunning new GE Slate Kitchen on display in their showroom and take advantage of an up to $300 rebate on these already affordably priced GE slate appliances!
